Black Label Society Shirt

Time for another little Metal ME blog post. I have a lot of favorite bands, which all are going to be revealed over time, so stay tuned! 😉

Another one of my all time favorite bands is Black Label Society. Frontman Zakk Wylde is definitely the best guitar player I have ever seen… and heard.

This awesome black-and-white BLS shirt is a little souvenir of Wylde’s ‘Book Of Shadows II’ tour (27th May 2016 @ Philharmonie Haarlem, The Netherlands). It really was an awesome show and the fist time I saw the master shredder Zakk Wylde performing live… absofreakinlutely amazing! I’m sure I will see (and hear) him more in future… with or without his mighty Black Label Society. 😉

Zakk Wylde’s solo career is a major detour from Black Label Society career: it’s influenced by southern rock, country and blues. The kind of music you would listen to escape from all the chaos of the society.

What makes ‘Book Of Shadows II’ such a great album is that Wylde knows what he’s playing, knows what message he wants to convey and, most of all, it’s from the heart. And as they say, any words spoken from heart will touch the heart, no matter what they are.

Amon Amarth Beardskulls Shirt

Showing of my Amon Amarth Beardskulls shirt for today’s Metal ME blog post. Amon Amarth is definitely part of my top 10 favorite bands.

For those who don’t know Amon Amarth yetAmon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The band is know for their synchronized headbanging and viking themed lyrics. They took their band name from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. It means “Mount Doom” in Sindarin, an elvish language invented by Tolkien.

Amon Amarth is probably one of, if not the most famous viking themed band in the metal genre and for good reason.

The first time I saw Amon Amarth live was about a two years ago at FortaRock Fest Nijmegen 2016, The Netherlands, during their Jomsviking European Tour. I was really impressed by their powerful show. With the big Viking himself Johan Hegg on vocals leading the attack you were made to feel throughout the entire show you were one with the Viking clan and being prepared for war. They got me hooked right away!

My Ultra Comfy Volbeat Hoodie

On (cold) rainy days, like today, I like to wear a hoodie. A hoodie is ultra comfy, warm, soft, and super cozy… perfect to wear on a lazy day spent at home.

There is no item of clothing in the entire world that is more comfortable than a hoodie. It’s a bit like being able to walk around snuggled in a love blanket all day long.

My favorite hoodie is definitely my Volbeat hoodie. But, let’s be honest, I love wearing all kind of Volbeat merch. 😛

Okay, now we are talking about hoodies, let’s make today a “Hoodie Sunday” with this picture of me in this awesome Volbeat hoodie. It was a birthday present of a friend… pretty cool huh?

Volbeat’s 2016 European Tour Shirt

This awesome Volbeat “2016 European tour shirt” is (another) one of my favorite Volbeat shirts. 2016 was a great musical year for me with even greater memories.

For those who don’t know Volbeat yet, check out my previous post where I show off my Volbeat’s Flourish Crown Shirt.

2016 was the year I saw the guys of Volbeat performing live for the first time during the awesome FortaRock Festival on 5th June in The Netherlands. And later that month at Graspop Metal Meeting (18th June) in Belgium. And,  for the third time that year, during their concert in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 15th November 2016.  How cool is that!

Volbeat’s Flourish Crown Shirt

Let’s start this new project “Metal ME” with the Volbeat’s Flourish Crown Shirt. This was the first Volbeat shirt I ever purchased. And, it’s not only my first Volbeat shirt, it’s also my favorite.

Volbeat is definitely one of my forever favorite metal bands. Perhaps you’ve heard of them, or perhaps you live under a rock. Perhaps you love them, perhaps you don’t. 😛

Volbeat is a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. They are not a typical metal band. The group plays a catchy mix of heavy metal, rock-’n-roll and rockabilly. And I just love it! ❤ Inspired by artists as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Metallica and Slayer, they have taken the very essence of rock-’n-roll and distilled it, getting rid of all of the flotsam and jetsom, leaving behind a sound that’s as pure as it is entertaining.

Their current line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Rob Caggiano (who has formerly been lead guitarist of the thrash metal band Anthrax), drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen.

I fell in love with Michael Poulsen (and Volbeat) from the second I heard his golden voice. And I must confess it isn’t much of a punishment to look at him putting on a show… and they know how to put on a show!
