Flying Bats Tattoo

I got a new tattoo today and I am definitely loving it! I have always wanted to get a tattoo on my feet and I have always had a fascination with bats. Bats may have a creepy reputation, but they are actually kind of cute. Their small pointy ears, curious bright eyes, and tiny puppy-like noses make them incredibly adorable.

Bats are often associated with vampires. Perhaps because of there is a subfamily of bats called “Desmodontinae” (vampire bats), which are parasites that drink blood of warmblooded animals. Anyway, this idea was made concrete when Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897) depicted vampires shape-shifting into bats. And, because of vampires have always (and probably will always) be my favorite supernatural creatures, I couldn’t think of a more applicable tattoo.

Like almost all of my tattoos, I have gotten this tattoo done by Double D Tattoo in Leerdam. Daniël is a really good artist. His work is the best around. Can’t wait to go back for more! I still have an enormous bucket list that will probably take some years to complete. So, that means I am definitely getting more tattoos. I will always love my tattoos, because they represent my history, my story, my choices. I will continue to get tattoos that I love, and I will continue to fill my body with little pieces of beauty that make me happy.
